Dominant Sabalenka Wins Back-to-Back WTA Top Player Awards.
The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second straight season.
The twenty-seven-year-old secured four tournament victories – the most on tour – which included successfully defending the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth career Grand Slam singles title.
A Season of High Performance
Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka reached a circuit-leading nine finals, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.
The star player also won the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the entire year as the top-ranked player, ending 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year.
In July, she became the first player to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.
Historic Achievements
Sabalenka ended the season with a 63-12 win-loss record, and earned a record £11m in prize money.
She earned nearly 80% of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists.
Later this month, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a new level".
Other WTA Award Recipients
- Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, was voted after taking a extended hiatus following the birth of her first child and making her comeback to the sport earlier this season.
- Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after beginning the season ranked outside the world's top 300 and climbing to the eighteenth spot.
- Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after securing their second Grand Slam title together.
- Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after making five championship matches.
Last week, Carlos Alcaraz won three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted fans' favourite for a third time.
